关键词:Nitrate Groundwater Denitrification Electrode-hiofilm reactor applied current C/N
An intensified biofilm reactor using cooperation of heterotrophic and autotrophic denitrification was developed for treatment of nitrate contaminated groundwater.Denitrification bacteria were inoculated by anaerobic sludge from a waste water treatment plant.Nitrate removal efficiency, nitrite accumulation,NH3-N and pH in the treated water were investigated at three hydraulic retention time (HRT) levels ( 16,12 and 8 hours),different applied currents (0.01A,0.02A,0.04A) and influent nitrate loadings about 50 NO3--N mg·L-1.To obtain the optimal addition of carbon source, the ratios of carbon/nitrogen (C/Ns) were set at 3.00,2.50,2.00,1.50,1.25,1.00,and 0.75 in the experiments. The results demonstrated that it was possible to operate the biofilm system at high denitrification rates and relatively low HRT of eight hours. When the concentration in influent was 50 NO3--N mg·L-1,reducing the HRT from 16 hours to eight hours and C/N ratios from 3 to 1 when applied current was 10 mA,the concentration of NO3--N in effluent was no more than 1.00mg · L-1 and the NO2--N was less than 0.02 mg · L-1.The biofilm-electrode reactor lived up to the standards with over 96.8% nitrate removal when C/N ratio was 0.75 and applied current was 40 mA,but the nitrite began to accumulate. No NH3-N was produced and transparent effluent was obtained through all of the experiments. The biofilm reactor developed in the study was effective for the treatment of groundwater polluted by nitrate.
